There is a ton of interest from Tribes when it comes to Cannabis

With 573 federally recognized tribes across the nation, and Americans heavily favoring legalization, there’s lots of potential for growth. Roughly one-third of the 109 Federally recognized California Tribes have already joined the Cannabis business and slightly less than one-sixth of Tribes are venturing into the space nationally.

While featured on the “Insuring Cannabis” Podcast, John Balian, Vice President and Director of the Cannabis Industry Practice at Wood Gutmann & Bogart Insurance Brokers, shared his thoughts on how California regulators treat Tribal Cannabis businesses as compared to Tribal Casinos, how Insurers are responding to new trends and denying certain protections, as well as the hurdles ahead for insuring Tribal cannabis.

The podcast also includes comments from the General Manager of Santa Ysabel Tribal Development Corporation, who has been John’s client for many years.
